Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy Senate president has congratulated David Mark, on emerging victorious in the just concluded Benue South rerun senatorial election.

David Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled a total of 84,192 to defeat his challenger, Daniel Onjeh of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 71,621 votes.

However, Senator Ekweremadu believes that if the election was to be conducted a million times, David Mark would win as many times as possible, Vanguard reports.

A statement issued today, February 21, by Uche Anichukwu, Ekweremadu’s special adviser on media and publicity reads: “I congratulate Senator Mark and our loyal party men and women on this well-deserved victory, which reaffirms his previous victory in April 2015.

“We have always been confident that even if the election should be conducted a million times, PDP and Senator Mark would still win as many times.”

“The people, proved, once again, that you cannot deceive all the people all the time.”

Ekweremadu described the victory as a defence for democracy.

Meanwhile, David Mark has dismissed call by the APC for the just concluded Benue South senatorial rerun to be declared inconclusive.

Mark was declared winner of the election after winning in five local government areas while his rival Onjeh won in four.

The APC had called for the rerun election to be declared inconclusive arguing that the total invalid votes were more than the difference between the David Mark and Daniel Onjeh.

However, speaking with newsmen today, February 21. after observing a brief Sunday service at his Otukpo residence, Mark said:
